Year 1 in Action November 1

Role Play

Apricot class has got a new hairdressing area that the children have been enjoying. The children have been creative,  talking about hairstyles, making appointments and reading magazines in the waiting area. Be sure to make an appointment!

Walnut Class showcased their creativity in various ways ranging from drawing beautiful art pieces and  creating magnificent lego models to  developing their fine motor skills with miniature elastic bands. Outside, others chose to socialise with their peers in a fun way.

In Beech class, we have been focusing on our math  self- led learning. The children have been using the numicon to make numbers to 20 and beyond. They have been using 100 squares to complete addition problems. The children absolutely love building and using jigsaw puzzles, construction blocks and dienes in their play too.

This week, the children have been measuring rainfall using our rain gauges.

A rain gauge is an instrument used by meteorologists and hydrologists to measure precipitation (e.g. rain, snow, hail or sleet) in a certain amount of time. It usually measures in millimeters.

We have also been creating our own artwork inspired by Remembrance Day and red poppies. The children reflected on their previous learning from Reception and what the poppy symbolises.
