What a wonderful week we have had, full of great learning and fun. Here are some of the highlights of our week!
Literacy
In Literacy this week, children have continued to learn about the Great Fire of London. They have built their knowledge of past tense further and have written diary entries this week based on a school day. The children were able to record events that occurred during the school day, described the different emotions they felt and ensured that it is written in the past tense.
Maths
In Maths, children have been learning about number bonds within and over 20. They have incorporated their knowledge of the column method, number fact families and partitioning to assist their understanding. They have also used concrete objects such as dienes and counters to assist their learning.
History
Year 2 were transported back to 1666 when they came back to class on Tuesday 15th November 2022. Last half term we started to look at London in our Geography lessons. We learnt that it was the capital city of England and studied some of the famous landmarks. This half term we are learning about an important event that happened in London in 1666; The Great Fire of London. An actor visited us and helped us travel back in time to 1666. Everyone used their drama skills to act out life in London at that time. We learnt about where the fire started and how it spread.
"I enjoyed acting as the mayor, everyone had to bow to the king" Maya-Aisha
"I learnt that the fire started in the bakery" Sophia
What wonderful learning we have had from Year 2. Well done everyone!
