Year 1 Christmas Celebrations

We had a fabulous time performing our Christmas show last week. Thank you to all of our parents and carers for your support and a huge round of applause for all of our children for their amazing performance too.

Lapland Day

Year 1 had an amazing day completing Christmas arts and crafts and enjoying a warm cup of hot chocolate as they listened to Christmas and Winter stories.

The children have been busy completing their end of term assessments for phonics, math and writing, last week.


Next term, our focus text will be Traction Man. We will be writing fact files, diary entries and writing from different points of views.

Next term, we will be focussing on addition and subtraction within 30, place value within 50, and measurement. 



Science

Year 1 have been learning about our senses; touch, sight, smell, hearing and taste. The children completed a science investigation discovering the senses and the body parts associated with the sense.

Next term, our focus will be ‘Everyday Materials’ and identifying their properties.

George has worked very hard to use his  problem-solving skills in maths this week. Well done George.

Ayana has been working really hard in all subjects. She is always trying to do her best and is a great model to the rest of year 1.

Rio, in recognition of your superb attitude and hard work towards your class work and being an excellent role model in Beech class. You have such a positive attitude and are so kind and caring to all. Excellent work Rio.

Scarlet & Sofia - You have both worked incredibly hard to write your own version of the story ‘Pattan’s Pumpkin’ and included adjectives and connectives to add description to your work.

Year 1 Lapland Day Monday 13th December 2021

 


                              Lapland Day


Year 1 are having a special Christmas celebration day on Monday 13th December in school. We will be completing craft activities in class and having a special story time with hot chocolate and marshmallows at the end of the day. Children can wear non-uniform on Monday, however please note they will be completing a range of arts and crafts and playing in the playground.

Year 1 Awards 03.12.21

 

  

We have had another great week and there has been so much to celebrate in Year 1!

Walnut:

Toni has earned the E for Excellence award for working really hard to sequence her  story and for supporting other children to complete their work. Well done Toni!


Apricot:Teddy

Teddy has been making lots of effort with his learning. Teddy has been trying really hard in both phonics and Maths. He has also been contributing on the carpet. 



Beech: Denis


Denis, in recognition of  you always trying your best in the maths sessions. You have worked super hard  this week learning new mathematical vocabulary and using this correctly in your work.
