This week marked the final Forest School session of the year for Beech Class, and we made it a special one with a campfire celebration! The children enjoyed hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows to make delicious s’mores.
We took time to discuss how to stay safe around the fire, revisiting the three elements needed to start a fire: oxygen, fuel, and heat. The children also practiced the “respect position” to ensure they were steady and safe while toasting their marshmallows.
Many of the children got creative with a nature-inspired craft activity, making paper plate spinners decorated with treasures they found outdoors—grass, daisies, leaves, and more.
We played a lively game of Foxes and Rabbits, which the children really enjoy.
It has been a real pleasure getting to know your children over these 10 sessions. I hope they’ve had as much fun as I have and leave Forest School with happy memories and a deeper connection to nature.
