Well done to Ayaan in Walnut, Ayaan created Christmas crafts with his sister. It was super to see you both working together and helping each other. Well done Ayaan!

Well done to George, in Apricot, for his constant hard work at home this week. George has spent a lot of time practising his 5 times tables and has made great progress. Well done George!

Congratulations to Charlie in Beech, for is excellent home learning throughout lockdown. Charlie had followed the home learning timetable but adapted it, bringing in his own interesting resources for maths, as well as extra worksheets to support reading and writing. Charlie has shared so many of his lovely learning experiences with his teachers and his friends. Well done Charlie!

Well done to Victoria in Walnut, wrote a letter to Santa and asked for the virus to go away and wished for Santa to give health to all people. Such a thoughtful wish, well done Victoria! Victoria also asked Santa for a castle, a Barbie house and the books Beegu and The Gruffalo.

Congratulations to Liroshan, in Apricot, for his incredible descriptive piece of writing about Belle in A Very Corgi Christmas. Liroshan worked hard to write an interesting piece that gripped the reader through his use of lots of brilliant adjectives. Well done Liroshan!

Well to Pragya, in Beech, for her excellent work this week. Pragya has shown that she thinks very carefully about all aspects of her writing, ensuring she uses adjectives to make her writing more interesting, whilst using capital letters and full stops in the correct way. Pragya also works hard on her presentation making sure her writing is neat and sitting on the line.

Year One Bedtime Stories

Dear Parents and Carers

We would like to invite your child to join us for ‘Bedtime Stories’ on Tuesday 15th December.

In past years, we have held this event after school and invited the children and parents back into school in the evening. This year was always going to have to be different but for Year One, we have had to really rethink how we can still get involved in the Bedtime Story fun.

But... there is a way!

One Tuesday 15th December we will release another Bedtime Story blog with links where you can watch your teachers reading different stories.

These are pre-recorded, so you can watch the video when it fits in with you. This will give you time put your pjs on, snuggle up with a hot chocolate and settle in for story time.

We would love for you to post a picture on to Google Classroom of your child watching their bedtime stories.

We look forward to you joining us.

Kind regards

The Year One Team

We cannot stress enough how important reading with your child each day is. We understand that with home learning, trying to fit everything in will be a challenging task in itself. Please can we ask that you prioritise reading every day, even if its just for 10 minutes?

Hilldene Library are also offering a click and collect service if you need any reading books.

We thank you for all your support and look forward to speaking to the children this week. We can't wait to see your work on Google classroom make sure you all log in! Remember we are an email away if you have any problems.
