Apricot Forest School

Apricot Class had a lovely return to their Forest School sessions,

with our theme focusing on Animals in Nature. The children

were full of enthusiasm and shared ideas about animals they

might find in the wild in England, including rabbits, squirrels

and foxes. ๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿฟ️๐Ÿ‡

One activity involved using clay and natural materials,

such as leaves and sticks, to create woodland creatures.

The children showed great creativity, making a range of

animals including a butterfly and a bat. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฆ‡

I also brought soft toy birds, including a blackbird, a

chaffinch and a pigeon. The children enjoyed building nests

for them using natural materials they found on the ground,

showing care and thought in their creations. ๐Ÿชน๐Ÿฆ

The children also noticed the green tubes around the site

and learned that these protect newly planted saplings.

They enjoyed looking inside and spotting buds, noticing

the first signs that spring is on its way. ๐ŸŒฑ✨

Forest School- Apricot

This week, Apricot Class had their very first week at Forest School.

I was so impressed that so many children remembered to bring their welly boots to school – amazing! A big thank you also to all the parents and carers who have already provided waterproofs. If you haven’t had the chance yet, please make sure your child brings theirs in for next week, as we will be heading outside rain or shine.

Before we set off, we discussed what nature means. We talked about how it is anything not made by humans, such as clouds, the sky, trees, flowers, and animals.

Once outside, the children each chose a special Forest School name. They picked either something in nature that started with the same sound as their own name, or something they simply liked. (My Forest School name is Kate Kestrel!) After that, everyone searched the site for their hidden Forest School badge. Once found, they decorated their badges, which they will proudly wear each week at Forest School.

The children then had time to explore the site. They were thrilled to discover some ladybirds, and many enjoyed collecting the acorns that had fallen from the oak tree. One child even gathered dandelions to take home for his pet tortoise!

We finished the session with a well-deserved drink and snack before heading back to school.

Apricot Class - Forest School

To Apricot Class Parents,

Just a quick reminder from the Forest School teachers. Could you please make sure that your children have spare clothes to change into after Forest School. As the weather becomes cold and wet the children will need something dry to change into and unfortunately there are enough spare clothes for all the children.

Thank you

To Apricot Class Children and Adults,

Myself and Mrs O'Riordan would like to say a ginormous Thank you for such a fantastic year. Your children have been amazing and have all made so much progress that we are beaming with pride. We have watched the children grow and they are most certainly ready for their next adventure in Year 2.

Thank you for all of your kind words, cards and presents that you have given us. We appreciate it so much. We have been blown  away with your kindness and support, not just now but throughout the whole year.

Your children have been an absolute pleasure to teach and we have had lots of fun on our little journey.

We will really miss them but I am sure that they will come visit us, just like we will visit them.
