Year 1 - What we are learning

Spring term has finally come to an end and all the children deserve a nice break. All the children have worked extremely hard and we are incredibly proud of the progress we have seen this term. After Easter the children will come back rested and fresh ready for the summer term.

The Year 1 team would like to wish you all a very restful break and hope that you all have a wonderful Easter! ( Try not to eat too many eggs!)

This week in Literacy the children have completed a retell of the story Snail and the Whale. The children were asked to create story maps and from this create a story using First, next, then and finally to sequence the events of the story.

Easter Fudge

Chocolate treats have been made this week. The children have made delicious Chocolate fudge! The children have had a great time mixing, crushing chocolate and watching it all come together. We also focused on the importance of washing hands and not licking the spoon when you're at school!

Easter Hunt

This morning the children went on an Easter hunt. They children were given clues and had to hunt around year 1 classrooms and outside area to find the anagram. The children also had a visit from a very special bunny!

Science

Children completed Animal fact files. They chose an animal and wrote different facts about them. This included what they eat, how they look and an interesting fact.

Easter Egg Parade!

Hop little bunnies!

Well done to all the children (and adults!) who made such amazing Easter hats! The children completed their parade and sang the song sleeping bunnies!
