Pancake Day!!!

Today is Shrove Tuesday and the children in Year One have been excitedly learning about this delicious day! Pine class looked at the Christian term 'Lent' and were discovering why we have pancakes and where they come from. The children learned lots of pancake related facts.

Did you know there is a pancake tossing race in the UK, whereby people dress up in fancy dress and run a race whilst tossing a pancake to raise money for charities?

The children got to practise their pancake making skills and made up several batches of batter. Together, we made a class full of pancakes and the children chose from a selection of delicious toppings- sugar, lemon, blueberries or syrup!

We hope you enjoy an evening filled with pancakes- the children are now very skilled at making them!

"We need eggs, milk and flour to make the batter" Giada
"Pancakes are different in Scotland and they have a different name 'drop scones'!" Moyin
"I enjoyed helping serve the pancakes to all the children" Zara
"I loved the toppings!" Christopher
