We have been very busy in Year 2 this week, here are some of the highlights of our week!
Literacy
This week in literacy our grammar focus was uplevelling sentences. To ‘uplevel’ a sentence is to make a boring sentence more interesting by including lots of extra details. We also learnt how to write a letter. We imagined we were the Queen and wrote a letter to Egg Box Dragon asking for his help. We also wrote a letter to our friends explaining Egg Box Dragons adventures. Our letters were absolutely fantastic, well done.
Elsie- "Can you please help me Egg Box Dragon"
Maths
This week in maths we looked at changing ones into tens. We learnt that 10 ones can also be 1 ten. We problem solved and were resilient in trying to do this. It was very challenging but we did it!
Ite- "10 ones can make 1 ten"
Adam- "Now there is 20"
PSHE
This week we looked at how to be a good friend. We learnt that good friends play with us, choose to be our partners, listen to us, make us laugh, compliment us and share with us. The children wrote down what they do to be a good friend at lunch time, break time and in class.
Nyasa- "I am kind to all my friends"
Ivan- "I can play football with my friends"
Geography
This week in geography the children looked at a range of landmarks from a birds eye view. We described what we could see in the images. It was amazing to see what different places look like from the sky. In our choosing time we also made famous landmarks using the small blocks. We saw some fantastic creations!
Batool- "I can see a yellow water slide"
Lily- "Its looking from up high"
