We have been very busy in Year 2 this week, here are some of the highlights of our week!
Literacy
This week in literacy our grammar focus was writing the perfect sentence. The children listed what is required in order to write the perfect sentence. We know this includes capital letters, well- formed letter, finger spaces and full stops. We then use adjectives to describe what our Egg Box Dragons will look like when we create them. We saw some fabulous ideas and can't wait for the children to create!
Ivan- "My Dragon will have black wings"
Bruno- "My Dragon has cool wings"
Maths
This week in maths we looked at skip counting. We skip counted in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s. Skip counting is important in the development of fluency in calculation, number sense and as the basis of multiplication and division. It was tricky but we did very well!
Sofia- "I have 6 sticks"
Joseph- " 3 then 6"
PSHE
This week we looked at compliments. A compliment is a polite expression of praise or admiration. The children watched a video about compliments and then attempted giving their partner one. The children were smiling while this was done and understood that receiving a compliment makes you feel good about yourself. We then wrote compliments on our compliment wheel.
Nikita- " I like Nashwans smile"
Scarlet- "I love being Elsies friend"
Geography
This week we looked at the continents and oceans in the world. The children were given a world map and had to place each continent in the right place. We learnt some catchy songs to help us remember the continents and oceans. Here they are
Jessica- "Here is Europe"
Ava- "Asia is the biggest"
