Year 1 In Action September 1

Continuous Provision refers to the resources provided in our classrooms for the children to interact with creatively, which they have access to every day. The idea of continuous provision is that it encourages the children to learn in the environment through self- led learning. We want to encourage our children to be active learners,to be independent and to foster their innate curiosity to explore, play and learn.

Zofia ‘ I am looking for a cranefly, it looks like a Mosquito’

This week the children were enthralled and fascinated by the alien crash landing site! The children thought of different ways that they could capture the aliens who had crashed and landed in the playground. The children designed different traps to capture the alien using the creative arts area resources. Messages were created using the sunflower plant stems and paints to write to the aliens.

Kai: “It’s sweets, and then we can catch the aliens in the box using the sweets.”

We have been busy this week, discussing the alien crash landing site with our friends and talking about how it could have happened?

We have enjoyed creating our own math challenges and using our own critical thinking to solve shape problems too. We’ve had puppet shows and robot math too!

We have enjoyed threading beads to practise our fine motor skills. Also, we creatively built towers and other models with different 3-dimensional shapes.

Vikhyat, ‘I am building a tower.’
