A great week of learning. Year one has worked hard both inside and out. The rain definitely didn’t stop the children from playing and enjoying the outside area.
Literacy
Year 1 has been introduced to adjectives(describing words) this week. The children were asked to look at pictures of Beegu and describe how he may be feeling and what he looks like. The children were also asked to design a friend for Beegu and write a descriptive sentence about the character.
Maths
This week the children have been focusing on recognising the words to the numerals. The children were sounding out the number names and matching them to the correct amount. Year 1 have also been enjoying counting games on the interactive whiteboard.

Science
This week, we have been learning about day and night and how shadows are created and why they change. Afterwards, the children drew around their shadows.
Forest School
Year 1 were busy this morning creating art while at forest school. Chalk and charcoal were used for drawing, sculptures were made from sticks and a variety of other items and sticky art pictures were created using acorns, leaves, sticks and feathers. We spotted colours in nature and noted green and brown were the easiest colours to find.
Computing
The focus this week was for the children to learn about the function of the Keyboard and where the letters are placed. The children used games and a typewriter to find the letters of their names.
