Year One - This week's learning

Week 4's Learning

Welcome back Year One

The children really enjoyed seeing each other again and the party continued in Year One as children used their independent time to create characters and invitations. A fantastic opportunity for children to practice their sounds and letter formation independently!

Literacy

This week the children were invited to think of ideas for a class pet, the children shared ideas such as a dog, kitten, kangaroo and a rabbit. The children thought of ideas and found worms outside and created a safe home and play area for them. The children added leaves for the worms to eat and covered them with sticks to keep them safe. They were very excited to learn we would be searching for snails to keep as a class pet!

Maths

The children completed an assessment in Maths this week answering 20 questions including arithmetic and problem solving questions.

Science

The children took part in a Science Walk this week looking at deciduous and evergreen trees in the outdoor environment. The excitement continued as the children carried out science experiments.

Outside

The children have had a brilliant time playing in the outdoor area. They have been testing and balancing different weight, building structures and using team work to create obstacle courses and restaurants.

Oh Deer!

There was real wonder and surprise when the children spotted some deer across the road from the School!

It was a fantastic week of learning and just being back together again has been wonderful.

Have a great weekend.

Year One Team.
