British Science Week
This week was British Science week so the children have been engaging in lots of science activities.
Highlights from the week.
Live Lambing
The children in Year 4 and 5 were able to experience lambs being born live in a workshop on Monday. The children were really inquisitive, even earning some of them a certificate at the end of the week.
Poster Competition
The children were involved in a poster competition this week about this year's science theme, innovation. The children had to design an invention, the winners are to be announced on Monday.
Experiments
The children have been doing experiments all week, some of these include: can you eat three crackers in 1 minute (a lesson on saliva), make your own volcanos (chemical reactions), does the size of your hand span correlate with the size of your feet? (pattern seeking), making food colouring in milk move with washing up liquid (properties).
STEM Career Talks
The children had the opportunity to ask nurses and doctors questions about their careers. These included: what is it like being on the front line? How many hurts (injuries) have you seen? What uniform do you wear? What is your daily routine? Are you ever grossed out by what you see? The doctors and nurses responded to their questions via video that they were able to watch today.
A big thank you to our nurse and doctor volunteers for helping make Science Week special!
