Science Topic: Plants
Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our exciting new Science topic, Plants, the children in Year 2 will be taking part in a range of hands-on activities to help them learn about how plants grow and where they come from.
To support this learning, we would be grateful if you could send your child in with the following items;
One fruit and one vegetable, these will be used in class to dissect and closely examine the seeds and structures inside. This will help the children to identify different types of seeds and understand how plants grow. (Examples include: an apple, tomato, pepper, carrot, or similar – nothing too large or exotic, please.)
One clean, empty yogurt pot, we will be using these to plant bulbs in class, allowing the children to observe the growth process over time.
Thank you for your continued support in making our learning as fun and engaging as possible. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Kind regards,
Year 2 team
