Year 2 What We Are Learning.

   Literacy

This week in literacy, our classroom has

been bursting with creativity and imagination!

The children have been hard at work dreaming

up their very own characters — from fire-breathing

dragons to sneaky bats and a whole host of wild,

wacky and wonderful monsters. What made their

creations truly amazing were the incredible

adjectives they used to describe every fang,

feather, and scale. They didn’t just write about

their characters — they brought them to

life with vivid, powerful language that wowed us all!

Maths: Addition

This week, the children worked really hard to

solve addition problems. First, they looked at

the vocabulary of addition. Next, they partitioned

2-digits into 10s and 1s before adding the numbers.

After that, they solved problems using the expanded

addition method. Finally, they used a written column

 method. Fantastic effort!

Geography

This week in Geography, pupils explored and

identified the climate of the United Kingdom.

They engaged in discussions about the variations

in weather across the four countries of the UK, England,

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. As part of their

learning, pupils successfully used weather symbols to

represent the different weather conditions happening

in various parts of the country.

Year 1 - Barleylands

Thank you all for your interest in supporting your child during our trip to Barleylands.

We’ve had lots of parents volunteer, and while we would love to take everyone, unfortunately we only have a limited number of tickets available.

To keep things fair, we will put all the volunteer names into a hat and draw out the names at random. Those selected will be notified by next week (W/C 30.06.25).

Thank you again for your enthusiasm and support!

Year 2 What We Are Leraning

   Literacy

This week, Year 2 has been retelling The Chocolate Planet story. First, we used a storyboard, then we created a written plan, and finally, we retold the story independently. However, the biggest change was that instead of a Moondog, we introduced a new character — an ogre!

Maths: Position and Direction.
This week, the children learnt about movements and turns.
They learnt to use vocabulary like turns, movements, forwards,
backwards etc. Well done Year 2.

Geography
This week in Geography, the children learned about
the causes of droughts and floods and explored
why these are considered extreme weather conditions.

Year 2 Trip to Discover Story Centre

This week, the Year 2 children went on an exciting trip to the Discover Story Centre. They had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In the story rooms, the children looked through a telescope, dressed up as different characters, and explored imaginative settings such as space and caves. They also had the opportunity to create their own unique class stories, complete with main characters and a variety of settings. To add to their enjoyment, there were fun slides and a musical area, which the children loved exploring. It was a memorable and inspiring trip that helped spark their creativity.
