Literacy

This week the children have been independently writing a very important letter to the Queen, telling her about all of the work we have completed on how to make sure that we keep the world clean and tidy.

Next week we are going to be learning about poetry. The children will be having the opportunity to hear a variety of poems as well as writing a class poem all about the Queen.

Maths

This week, the children have been learning how to tell the time to the hour and half past the hour.

Ryan, ‘I enjoy learning about time.’

Science

This week the children in Year 1 have been experimenting with the bounceability of materials. We investigated a variety of different balls and devised a fair test to test the bounceability of each ball on two different surfaces. We recorded our results on a table.

Lucas “ I think the basketball will bounce the highest.”

Olivia “The golf ball bounced the highest I thought it would be the tennis ball.”

Cycling Awareness Week

The children had a fabulous time scooting and biking around our Broadford track this week.

Beech Class Forest School

Tuesday saw the final session of forest school for Beech class. It’s always a busy session as everyone gets a turn to toast their marshmallows themselves. The children made s’mores with their toasted marshmallows and enjoyed hot chocolate too. They collected their forest school necklaces to take home and made woodland warrior wristbands. Everyone helped ensure the fire was out pouring their cup of water over the fire and telling us what they would tell their friends about forest school - these included the hammocks, making crafts and cooking on the fire. We are so glad you’ve had a good time at forest school.
