RE

The children had a fantastic time learning about Eid in school on Friday. It was a great opportunity to make our children aware of this exciting Muslim festival and encourage them to celebrate it at school. Helping their understanding of different cultures and celebrating diversity.

Eid marks the end of a month of fasting from dawn to sunset, as well as spiritual reflection and prayer. Under usual circumstances, the day starts with prayers and a big meal is usually the main event, but there’s lots of other ways people celebrate too.

Eid is a time of celebration after accomplishing one of the most important religious duties: fasting during the month of Ramadan. Lots of people celebrate this by spending time exchanging gifts and visiting friends and family.

Boat Reading Area

Year 1 have had a great time in our new outside reading area, the children have loved reading their favourite books in the outside area this week

Beech Class Forest School

Tuesday morning  was all about hapa zoming (the Japanese technique for crushing leaves/flowers onto fabric) and hammocks. Year 1 made flags with varying designs using mallets to crush the leaves/flowers and make various patterns and pictures. They took time and care over their designs. Others enjoyed the hammock ensuring they got in and out carefully. A lovely morning with Beech class.
