Year 1: What We Are Learning
This week in PSHE the children explored feelings and how we can take steps towards making ourselves feel better when experiencing uncomfortable feelings. The lesson started in circle time with each child telling ‘Freddie’ the frog how they felt and many extended this by giving a reason using the word ‘because’. The words were listed under the Zones of Regulation and the children used this vocabulary to identify feelings in photos of children. Separating into groups, the children focussed on one uncomfortable feeling and discussed things a person could do to help them feel happier again.
The children have also been working hard in Maths this week.
This week in Year 1, we have been practising counting backwards from 10 and exploring the idea of "one less." The children used number lines, songs and fun activities to help them understand these concepts. They did a great job and showed fantastic number knowledge!
In RE this week the children have been learning about how the world began. We explored stories of creation, including the belief that God is the creator, and we discovered that people have different beliefs about how the world was created.
Well done Year 1 for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!
