Literacy
This week in English, the children have been busy
transforming into the characters Gala and Frag!
They stepped into their shoes and wrote imaginative
letters from their perspectives, showcasing creativity.
As part of our chocolate-themed adventure, we also
took a trip to Lidl to buy chocolate ingredients. Back
in the classroom, the children became chocolatiers—making
their own delicious truffles and even creating their very own
chocolate planets. It’s been a fantastic week of storytelling,
hands-on learning, and plenty of sweet fun!
Maths: Subtraction
This week in Maths, Year 2 have been working brilliantly
on addition and subtraction with exchange! The children
practised laying out their numbers carefully in columns and
learned how to carry over when adding digits that make more
than ten. We were so impressed with how they remembered
to put the carried number in the right place and double checked
their answers. It’s been lovely to see their confidence grow as
they tackled trickier sums with such enthusiasm. Well done, Year 2
RE
This week in RE, we continued our learning about influential
religious figures. We focused on Siddhartha Gautama,
a royal prince born over 2,500 years ago, who became known
as the Buddha after discovering a new way of understanding
the world. We learned about some of the Buddha’s important
teachings, including the Eightfold Path, a guide people can
follow to help end suffering. One of the key teachings we
explored was the importance of being mindful. To help us reflect
on this, we took part in mindfulness colouring and worked together
to create a beautiful, large class picture of the Buddha.
