Literacy
This week in English, the children have been busy writing
their own adapted versions of The Chocolate Planet story,
featuring the terrifying monsters they created themselves!
They worked hard to use conjunctions to link their ideas
smoothly, and challenged themselves to uplevel their writing
by including scary adjectives that really brought their scenes
to life. We're so proud of their creativity and effort!
Maths: Subtraction
This week, the children learnt about subtraction.
They started with the vocabulary of subtraction.
Additionally, they used a written column method
to solve subtraction problems that do not involve
exchanging one 10 for ten 1s. Next week, they will
be looking at subtraction problems that involve
exchanging one 10 for ten 1s.
Fantastic effort!
Geography
This week in Geography, pupils explored the
concept of the Equator, the imaginary line
that circles the centre of the Earth, dividing
it into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
They learned how the Equator plays a key role in
climate and why it's warmer near this central belt
of the planet. Using maps and globes, pupils engaged
in identifying countries located above (north of), below
(south of), or directly on the Equator.
