Outdoor Learning In Year 2

Year 2 have been loving the warmer climate this term! They have been up to all sorts in the outdoor area, extending their learning outside and working hard  developing learning behaviours. We have seen Art, Science, Maths and even Design & Technology taking place - all in the children's independent time.

Our Al fresco restaurant!
One day a selection of vegetables were put in the outdoor area... before we knew it. they had been chopped and prepared ready to be served in the 'restaurant' which the children created. They began creating a menu, taking orders and even made coloured liquids in the water area to act as the various drinks selection! What brilliant creativity and reciprocity they showed!
"We have a waiter and waitress, the chefs and the drink maker. I have ordered a carrot and onion pie!" Molly

"Can I have the cabbage soup please, that's healthy for you and makes you strong" Lucas

A spot of Georgia O'Keeffe (our artist this term) inspired painting.

Using the ramps to consolidate our measurement learning.
"The car travelled 2 and a half meters!" Exclaimed Alfie

Tilly has been busy at work building her window in the woodwork area! She explained "I have to use a long nail otherwise it won't reach both pieces of wood."

We attempted to recreate the Broadford tree using painted hand prints.
