Year 2 What We Are Learning

   Literacy

This week, the children learnt about the features
of instructional writing.  Next, they wrote a set of
instructions on how to make a delicious jam
sandwich. In their writing,  the children used
time adverbials to sequence their instructions in
a chronological order. Additionally, they used
imperative verbs to show what needed to be
done. Impressively, they included adverbs of
manners too. Super effort!

    Maths

This week the children worked on addition

subtraction across 10 and from a ten as well

as subtracting from a ten and subtracting

a 1-digit number from a 2-digit number

(across a 10). Pupils were able to use their

prior knowledge of number bonds and part

whole model to solve addition and subtracting

problems that involved partitioning.

R.E

This term we are exploring the festivals that

are celebrated in different religions. This

week we explored Christmas and why Christmas is

celebrated by Christianss. We discovered what

Christmas means and how it may be celebrated.

  Forest School

Mulberry class had a lovely autumnal morning
noticing the details around us. We put treasures
in our matchboxes, looked through tubes to notice
the details and used our sense of smell to identify
herbs and spices. Thanks to those who bought in
their waterproofs and wellies in today. Please keep
sending them in. Thanks.
