Year one have had another fantastic week back with lots of fun learning opportunities.
In Literacy this week the children were using adjectives to describe a character from our class story.
In Maths this week, the children were introduced to the part whole model.
The part whole model is a pictorial representation that shows the relationship between a whole and its parts.
Beach class had a lot of fun at Forest School this week. They listened to the story ‘Stanley’s Stick’ which is about a little boy who uses his imagination to pretend his stick is lots of different things. All the children then found a stick.
In groups we read the poem ‘This is not a stick’ and the children use their stick to act out all the different things. The stick was lots of different objects, such as a telescope and a fishing rod.
They then thought of their own ideas. These included nail varnish, a boat and a microphone.
Many of the children wanted to attach wool to their stick to make fishing rods and a few boys made a ‘zip line.’
The children had time to explore the natural world around them before having a biscuit and a drink. We ended the session with a few games that help to develop their understanding and listening skills.
