Spelling Information
Every Monday, children will receive their red Spelling books, which contain three to six spellings based on their RWI groups. It’s crucial for children to practice their spellings daily and return their Spelling books by Friday, ready for their test.
Our Spelling Instruction Method
Identify Special Friends: Determine if the word has any "special friends" (e.g., the word "sing").
Pinch the Sounds: Pinch each sound of the word onto your fingers (e.g., s - i - ng).
Write the Word: Write the word after pinching the sounds.
For Red Words (tricky words that can't be sounded out because they don't follow standard phonetic rules), follow these steps:
Examine the Word: Look at the word carefully.
Say the Word Aloud: Pronounce the word out loud.
Cover the Word: Cover the word so it’s no longer visible.
Write the Word: Write the word from memory.
Check the Spelling: Verify if the word is spelled correctly.
