Literacy
This week in Literacy we learnt the features
of a non chronological report. We
found out we need headings, pictures,
present tense, technical vocab and captions.
We learnt about Jackals which feature in our
story Meerkat Mail. We used this information
to write a report about Jackals. We found
out interesting facts such as ‘Jackals
have a yipping sound that only their
family members can understand’.
Forest School
Pine class had a morning of fun at forest school. We all enjoyed the dry weather after some very wet weeks. The children had the opportunity to try lighting their own mini fire using a fire steel and cotton wool. It took some time but lots of resilience was shown. Some children built their own pretend fires practising the different structures. Great care was taken making forest people, two children even decided to make Peter Pan and Wendy and dressed them ready to get married. A great morning was had by all.
Maths
This week, the children compared the masses of
different objects using the vocabulary of
lighter and heavier. Next, they practised
finding the masses of different objects in
grams and kilograms. Also, they had the
opportunity to use different scales
to find the masses of various objects.
