Year 1: What We Are Learning

Year 1: What We Are Learning

Year 1 have been working really hard this week.

In Literacy this week the children have been learning all about snails. They made fact files with lots of information about snails and made a list of instructions on how to care for snails. We have been learning all about snails because the book we are studying for this half term is The Snail and The Whale.

They also explored using the suffix -ing in their writing.

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. Please continue to read with your children and work on their Spellings with them. Please remember to sign your child's Reading Record Book.

In Maths this week the children have been using number lines and cubes to solve subtraction sums. The children have worked hard to take away numbers within twenty and find the correct answers.

In Geography this week the children went on a walk outside and discussed the different things they could see. We talked about the different things they found outside and discussed if they were human features or physical features.

In Science this half term the children are going to be learning all about plants. We went on a Spring walk and identified different signs of Spring. The children had a Spring walk tick-list and they ticked off the different signs of Spring that they were able to find.

In RE the children learnt about the Easter Story and recalled a a part of it.

Apricot class enjoyed their Forest School session this week and had a brilliant time taking part in lots of outdoor learning.

Well done Year 1 for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!
