Year 1: What We Are Learning
Year 1 have been working really hard this week.
In Literacy this week the children have been writing a persuasive piece of writing on whether they thought the Snail should or should not go with the Whale in The Snail and the Whale. The children used adjectives to persuade the reader and remembered their sentence rules.
The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. Please continue to read with your children and work on their Spellings with them. Please remember to sign your child's Reading Record Book.
In Maths this week the children counted accurately by making groups of ten.
In Geography this week the children looked at a range of different pictures and identified whether the features were human or physical.
In Science the children cut out the parts of the plant and stuck them into the correct place.
Year 1 had a wonderful World Book Day 2024. The children loved dressing up as their favourite book characters and they decorated the classroom door with one of their favourite books. As well as lots of other fun Literacy activities they also read stories with Year 5 children and looked at a variety of books throughout the day. Year 1 also had a live author event this week, Beverly Jatwani read her story Pop the Emperor Penguin. The children really enjoyed the live author event and World Book Day 2024 this week.
Apricot class enjoyed taking part in Forest School this week. They took part in a range of fun outdoor activities.
