On Tuesday, the children loved meeting Natalie Newman, the author of the story ‘Lark the Shark’. The children were fascinated by the story and it’s message related to recycling and caring for our environment.

Next week we have an exciting week of World Book Day activities. Year 1 will be attending webinars, sharing stories and class swapping and on Thursday, dressing up as their favourite story book character.

Science

Amari “Look that tree is bare, it’s leaves have fallen off.”

The children in Year One selected four different trees around the School to observe and track the changes across the four seasons this year. This is a wonderful opportunity for outdoor learning and allows the children to experience the changes of the seasons for themselves. We discussed the things the children know about Winter and spent time looking at the trees and describing what the children could see.

Apricot Class Forest School

It was the turn of Apricot class at Forest School this morning. Thankfully the wind had died down but not gone completely so we made flags to play with in the wind. Puddles were enjoyed along with the hammock and hanging caves. Worms were found and investigated. A fun packed morning with Year 1.
