Year 2 Week 6 Learning

We have reached the end of another fun filled week in Year 2. Take a look at what we have been up to this week.

Literacy

In literacy, we have been writing our own versions of 'Lost and Found'. We have worked hard over the the course of this half term creating a new character and destination based on the story. This week, we used our story mountains to rewrite our own version of the story, thinking about the introduction, build up, problem and resolution. We have blown our teachers away with our fantastic imaginations and have applied all the skills that we have learnt to include correct punctuation, spelling and vocabulary.

Computing

We have been using the Scratch Jnr app to practise our coding. We have learnt how to input codes to make our characters, move and speak.

Science

Over the course of our ready, steady, grow topic we have conducted a cress experiment to see what would happen to cress in a dark cupboard compared to cress on the windowsill. We made predictions based on our knowledge of what plants need to grow. This week, after all of our hard work looking after our cress and observing its changes, it was time to try the produce! There were some mixed opinions on the taste!

Love Our School

On Friday, we spent some of the afternoon showing our school some love. We worked hard tidying and cleaning our classrooms and outside area. Our teachers were so proud of how we took ownership over our learning resources, worked together as a team and took pride in getting them ready for next half term.

We hope that you all have a lovely, restful half term. We look forward to welcoming you back!
