This week the children have been completing reading, writing and math assessments. The children have worked incredibly hard and we hope they have a restful and well deserved half term break.

Science
Rio “I think the Lego will be the strongest as it sticks together.”
In Science, we have been testing the strength of a variety of materials. The children predicted which material would be the strongest and inspired by The Three Little Pigs, the children built houses made from different materials and tested which materials were the strongest. Afterwards, the children discussed their observations and results.
Afterwards, we looked at which materials were waterproof.
The children have been learning about scientific vocabulary related to experiments such as prediction, fair testing, observations and results. Next term we will be learning about animals and seasons.
Walnut Class Forest School
The final session (for now) for Walnut class. It was busy, busy with toasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate. The children also decorated spinning plates with natural items including leaves, small sticks, pieces of grass and shells. They twirled around in the wind and looked fantastic. It was lovely to have the sun shine on us too after a few weeks of frosty starts.
Next term, Apricot class will take part in Forest School. Walnut class and Beech class will have PE on Tuesdays.
