Year 2 - Week One learning

We have been very busy in Year 2 this week, here are some of the highlights of our week!

Literacy

This week in Literacy we have been learning about The Great Fire of London. 

After our fantastic workshop the children wrote sentences using noun phrases to describe what they could see, hear, feel and smell. 

Maths 

This week we have been learning how to add 2 digit numbers together using column method. The children have worked extremely hard to follow the steps independently. 

Step 1-  Write the numbers into columns

     4 3   +

Step 2- Add the ones together 

5+ 3 = 8

Step 3 - Add the tens together

40 + 40= 80

Step 4 - Add the tens and ones together 

80 + 8 = 88 

Great Fire of London workshop  

This week we had a Great Fire of London workshop. 

The special visitor came to teach us about life in 1666. The children were lucky enough to recreate this historical event.
