Year 1 Week 1 Learning

 


 



Literacy

This week we have been learning to write instructions. The children wrote instructions for caring and looking after a pumpkin.


Next week we will be writing letters about how Pattan can save all the plants and animals from the rain and floods?

This week we have been continuing to subtract one-digit and two-digit numbers using a number line or pictorial objects and  writing numbers sentences.









Next week we are going to be learning all about 2D and 3D shapes. We are going to be looking at the names and properties of these shapes.

RE

This term we will be learning about how and why celebrations are important in religion. This week we focused on the celebration of Diwali. Diwali is the five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day, is celebrated on 11th November and marks the day World War I ended. A two-minute silence is observed at 11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month, as the war ended on 11/11/1918. The children have been preparing a class wreath and learning about the symbolism of the poppy.






Beech Class Forest School & PE on Tuesdays

Next week, Beech class will be participating in Forest School. Please ensure the children have warm clothes: long sleeved tops and jumpers and tracksuit bottoms or leggings. Walnut and Apricot classes will have PE.
