Year 2 Week 3 Learning

Year 2 - Week Three Learning

The children have continued to have a great start to learning in Year 2. We have been very busy, here are some of the highlights of our week!

Literacy

This week in literacy we looked closely at the character of the 'Egg Box Dragon'. We thought about adjectives to describe his personality and his appearance. The children then used these to create their own fabulous descriptive sentences.

Next week in literacy we will be looking at the features of instructions. We will be following instructions to make jam sandwiches and then writing our own!

Maths

In maths, the children have been focusing on different ways to partition the same number. They have applied their knowledge of tens and ones well and been recording the addition sentences to match their resources.

Next week in maths we will be comparing and ordering numbers from 0- 100 using the greater than, less than and equal to sign.

Science

We had fun completing an experiment this week. The children had to test which paper towel was the most absorbent. They made predictions and used stop watches to time how long it takes to absorb water.

An Exciting Delivery!

This week, we had an exciting delivery of new construction sets to use in our continuous provision time. Our self-led learning in the construction area helps us to build our reciprocity and resilience skills, working together as a team and persevering with a tricky task! The children in Year 2 have spent some time learning how to use the new resources ready for next week. We were very impressed with how they followed the instructions and worked together to create some fantastic models. We can't wait to see what they make next!
