Year 1: What We Are Learning
In maths this week, we have been learning about capacity. The children explored different units of measurement including multilink cubes and cups of water. The children decided that water gave a more accurate result since it was able to completely fill the space within the containers whereas multilink didn’t fit in so well leaving lots of space unaccounted for. See photos below of children exploring these units of measurement.
We are delighted to share that our Year 1 children enjoyed a wonderful Cultural Day during an afternoon session! It was a fantastic opportunity for them to explore and celebrate different cultures from around the world. Throughout the afternoon, the children learned about Buddhism in Nepal, discovering some of its traditions and beliefs. They also explored aspects of Indian culture, including traditions, clothing and celebrations. In addition, the children were introduced to Romanian culture, learning about its customs and what makes it unique. The session was filled with engaging activities, discussions and opportunities for the children to share their own experiences. It was lovely to see their curiosity, respect and enthusiasm as they learned about different ways of life. A big thank you to the Year 1 families that participated in our cultural day, we really appreciate your time, effort and involvement in the children's learning!
This week the children have been enjoying a range of Easter themed crafts and activities.
The children participated in an exciting Easter egg hunt, where they worked together, followed clues and had lots of fun searching for hidden eggs and carrots!
A special highlight was our Easter parade, where the children proudly wore their wonderful Easter hats made at home. We were so impressed by the creativity, effort and individuality, super job Year 1!
