Lapland Day Year 1 Monday 13th December 2021

Lapland Day Year 1

Year 1 are having a special Christmas celebration day on Monday 13th December in school. We will be completing craft activities in class and having a special story time with hot chocolate at the end of the day. If you have any unwanted Christmas decorations/old trees that we could use to decorate classrooms and add some festive sparkle this would be very much appreciated!

Thank you
The Year One Team

Year 1 Nativity Costumes

 Dear Parents and Carers,

For the Christmas Performance can all children wear a festive or brightly colored top. Trousers/leggings or normal school trousers/skirt will be fine with this. There is no need to buy anything new.

The children should wear these clothes to school on Tuesday 7th December, they will also go home in these clothes so no spare clothes will be needed.

Some children may be wearing outfits for the nativity, again there is no need to purchase outfits these are already in school.

Year 2 Week 4 Learning

We have been very busy in Year 2 this week, here are some of the highlights of our week!

Literacy

This week in Literacy we have been continuing to look at the features of a diary. We wrote diaries in role as our favourite characters! James write a fantastic Spider-Man diary and included lots of adjectives to add detail, “After the party Spider-Man had a delicious hot chocolate!”

Maths
In maths, the children have continued their work on addition and subtraction. WE have been concentrating on using column method to subtract 2 2-digit numbers including exchanging.

Steps to success
1. Put the problem into columns
2. Subtract the ones
3. Smallest number on the floor, borrow 10 from next door!
3. Subtract the tens
4. Check your answer

History
In History we have continued our learning on The Great Fire of London. This week, we have been thinking about things we already know about The Great Fire OF London and things that we still want to find out. The children wrote facts and then composed questions which we will return to next week to further our research.

In the small world area the children have the opportunity to act out events and compare these to modern day fire safety.

Year 2 Christmas Costumes

 Dear Parents and Carers,

For the Christmas Performance can all children wear a festive or brightly colored top. Black trousers/leggings or normal school trousers/skirt will be fine with this. There is no need to buy anything new, we will be making accessories for costumes in school.

The children should wear these clothes to school this day, they will also go home in these clothes so no spare clothes will be needed.

Some children may be wearing outfits for the nativity, class teachers will speak to you about this directly, again no need to purchase outfits these are already in school.

We can't wait to show off our fabulous singing to you all! Remember to fill in the ticket slips, tickets will be handed out on Friday 3rd December.
