Science Week: Explosive Eruptions!

As part of our Science Week activities the children in Year One have been learning about volcanoes. We learned about the formation of volcanoes and about the hot, molten rock which is called lava.

The children then created their very own volcanic eruption; they worked together to build a 'volcano' out of sand and watched as vinegar mixed with bicarbonate of soda (and some red food colouring!) caused lava to explode from the top of their volcano!
