Comfy Cushion Club

Comfy Cushion Club

What a fantastic start to the University of Broadford! We began by looking at lots of example of cushions to give us ideas and help inspire us. We then began to draw some of our ideas and play around with different designs- and already this years Cushion Club have shown themselves to be a creative bunch!

Below is an overview of the course. Look out for photos and updates on the blog as we go through the weeks.!

Astonishing Acrylic Painting

What a fantastic start to the University of Broadford! The children in Astonishing Acrylic Painting were able to get straight into it by testing the different techniques and styles when using Acrylic paint. Next week we will look in more detail at the artist Joan Miro.

Year 2 Star Writers

Well done to Emily Russell and Summer Wingrove for being our first Star Writers of 2017! Both of the girls have proved they are reflective learners by being able to proof read their work and edit any errors made. This is fundamental skill when becoming a successful writer and one we work on continually. Keep it up girls!

Amazing Architects!

We had a fabulous first session in our Amazing Architects course on Friday. The children, varying from Years 2-6, came bouncing into Cherry class with huge smiles, eager to get building!

We spoke about what an architect does and the skills this career choice would require. We then had a go at using different construction materials to build objects. Lastly, we challenged ourselves by seeing who could build the tallest tower in five minutes. It was great fun and we can't wait to get started on the Lego Architecture series.

See below our course overview which the children received on Friday. This gives an outline of what the Amazing Architects course is and what we will be doing over the coming weeks...

Ruben's Australian Parcel

big thank you to Ruben who brought in an exciting Australian parcel he had received from his Auntie at the end of term - a perfect way to finish our topic 'Australia'. Ruben is lucky enough to have an Auntie who lives in Australia. Ruben told Cedar all about the items inside the package which included many pictures of Australia, some books and a calendar.

"The pencils are covered with aboriginal art. They have used the tradition colours that the aboriginal people used." Ruben

The children of Cedar couldn't believe the parcel had taken 10 days to arrive and that it would have flown by aeroplane!
