1666 Day
Year 2 took an exciting step back into 1666 this week as they explored the sights, smells, and drama of the Great Fire of London.
In the morning, the children experienced the smoky atmosphere of Pudding Lane, complete with the smell of burnt toast and drifting bedsheet smoke to help them imagine what it might have been like on that historic day. They were also treated to a short performance from the teachers, bringing the moment to life.
Back in class, the children tea‑stained paper and stepped into the shoes of Samuel Pepys to write their own diary entries.
In the afternoon, they created junk‑model houses to show how poorly built the homes of 1666 were. They then produced striking artwork of the silhouette of London, painting dramatic backgrounds and adding 3D flames using tissue paper.
The children had a fantastic day, and we would like to say a huge thank‑you to all the pupils and parents for the incredible effort put into the outfits and accessories. Your support made the experience truly memorable.
