Year 1: What We Are Learning

Year 1: What We Are Learning

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. Please continue to read with your children and work on their Spellings with them. Please remember to sign your child's Reading Record Book.

Year 1 have been working really hard this week.

In Literacy this week the children have been planning story maps and retelling the story of The Snail and the Whale in their own words. Well done Year 1!

In Maths this week the children have been learning all about length and height. They compared the lengths of different objects in the classroom and measured each others heights. They recorded their heights on a height chart and discussed their heights.

In Geography this week for our Wow Lesson the children made and tested out their very own kites. This was also one of our Experiences in Year 1 and the children loved flying their own kites.

In Science the children learnt about evergreen and deciduous trees. They drew examples of the different types of trees and wrote sentences describing them.

Apricot class enjoyed taking part in lots of fun outdoor learning during their Forest School session this week. They also enjoyed marshmallows and hot chocolates around the fire pit.

Well done Year 1 for an amazing week - keep up all your excellent work!

The children also had a brilliant time at the Easter Bonnet Parade and also enjoyed taking part in an Easter egg hunt

We hope you all have a lovely Easter Break and we look forward to seeing you all again for the Summer term. A big thank you to all the parents and carers for your continued support.

Year 2 What We Are Learning

 Literacy

This week in Literacy, we learnt about different suffixes.

Thereafter, we made new words by adding suffixes

to the root words. Finally, we wrote our own sentences

with our new words and challenged ourselves

by extending our ideas with conjunctions.

   Maths

This week, the children learnt about temperatures as

part of their ‘measures unit’. Then they read different

temperatures and solved problems using their

knowledge of subtraction and ordering. Well done Year 2!

Year 2 Easter Hat Parade

Today, the Year 2 children had the opportunity to show off their creativity. They came to school in colourful and imaginatively decorated Easter  hats and it was quite difficult to pick the winners because of the array of beautiful hats on display. Well done Year 2 for your creativity.

Easter Egg Hunt in Year 2

This week we did an Easter Egg Hunt. We were looking for different coloured eggs that were hidden around the playground. Everyone was lucky enough to find an egg. We were told at the start that if we find one we will get a surprise from the Easter Bunny! We also made an Easter themed path with chalk.

Iustin - "I liked finding the cool eggs".

Zara- "I liked it because I liked colouring Easter things".

Alice- "I liked the Easter Egg hunt because there was lots of differently designed eggs".

Sonny- " Easter Egg chocolate".

Happy Easter, have a great holiday.

See you in 2 weeks!

Love

Year 2.

Continuous Provision

Year one has had another term filled with exciting learning opportunities within the provision. All children have had the opportunity to engage in activities that enhance and consolidate many different skills throughout the day. Continuous provision helps to solidify learning, promote prior knowledge, and encourage active and independent learners. As well as building their subject knowledge, the provision helps to promote children's social and emotional skills, which prepares them for life outside of the classroom.

The provision is carefully planned by the class teachers and offer various levels of challenge and critical thinking. It is well known that Continuous Provision, is the second teacher in the classroom!
