Cedar Class have been having fun learning about fractions, using brightly coloured icing and mini-smarties. We enjoyed choosing and mixing our own icing sugar for our biscuits, which we spread over the whole of our biscuits. We then divided one biscuit into half and the other into quarters. Some of us even tried to divide our biscuits into thirds, which was very tricky.
Next we used twelve smarties and share these equally between the two halves and with another twelve smarties we shared these between the quarters. We were quickly able to see that half of twelve is six and a quarter of twelve is three. Some of us were able to spot that three quarters of twelve is nine.
