Science
This week in Science we looked at living
things and their habitats. We learnt
about animals and how they adapt to their habitat.
Adapting means doing things to survive.
We learnt about Lions, Reindeer, Polar
Bears and Leopard Seals. Our task was to
learn facts of how Leopard Seals have
adapted to the freezing cold conditions
they live in and write them down.
Literacy
This week, the children wrote letters in the
role of Egg box Dragon to their friends.
They informed their friends about the very
eventful journey to Buckingham Palace,
how difficult it was to find the lost diamond,
the grandeur of the visiting royalty, the
breathtaking beauty of the palace and scrumptious meal.
This week, pupils have focused on lines of
symmetry and key vocabulary. They can
identify whether a shape is symmetrical
or not based on the definition of a symmetry.
Also, they have learnt to use lines of symmetry
to complete a shape. Furthermore, we have
focused on counting the edges, faces and
vertices of 3D shapes.
Mulberry class had a great start to the session taking on their ‘love our school’ jobs. They were all helpful in looking after their environment. We played with water today, making nature shapes by spraying. We used water colour pencils to make pictures and then sprayed and smudged them to make them like paint. Boats were made and experiments of items that float and sink. Well done to Mulberry class for lots of creative ideas.
