Year 1 - What we are learning

CHRISTMAS IS ON ITS' WAY!! The children have been working hard on practising the Nativity this week and we hope that you can all come to enjoy the children's performance next week.

The children have also had a visit  from someone very special this week. Father Christmas came to Broadford and he gave some children a small present.

Although we have had lots of fun, the children have been working hard as always putting in lots of effort and care into their learning.

Please continue to read and practice spellings with your children. Please do not forget to sign your children's Reading record book.

Literacy

This week in Literacy children have been retelling the story of 'The Midnight Panther'.  They used pictures to help with the sequence of the story.

Maths

Children have been learning about Subtraction. They had good understand of how to take away objects to make the number smaller. Children used Part whole models and Number lines to help find the answers.

Continuing with our Topic this week the children have been labelling their body parts. We also sang Head, shoulders, knees and toes to help us to remember.

PSHE

This week children have been thinking about who is special to them and why. They took it in turns to explain why people are special and how we can be kind to other people.

                                                          Playing in the Snow

Let it snow! The children got very excited when they saw a little snow when playing outside. They tried very hard to catch  as many snowflakes as possible.
