Year 1- What we are learning

This week the children have been having lots of practice with there handwriting. They have been practising their letter formation for both Capital and lower case letters. It would be a great help if this is something that they could also practise at home. Maybe concentrate on one letter a day, show your children how to form the letters correctly and write a word with the letter in.

You may have also noticed that some of the children have brought home words for out upcoming Nativity. We are practising them daily at school as well as singing all the songs. I am sure by the time the Nativity comes you will be able to sing - a -long too.

Please continue to read and practice spelling with your children, Thank you to all the adults that do this on a weekly basics.

Art and Design

Apricot Class have been exploring watercolours and mixing primary colours. They used different patterns to explore colours and what happens if there is more or less water on the paint brush.

Maths

This week in Maths children have been learning about addition problems and finding a part and whole to each equation.

Literacy

The children have been very busy with their writing this week. They have been revisiting questions and how we need a question mark instead of a full stop. We have also been looking at the Rainforest  from our story and the children used adjectives to describe the rain forest.
