RWI Virtual School Phonic Lessons
Literacy
This week we have started our new topic Scrum-didily-umptious. Our focus text book this term will be The Jolly Postman. As part of this topic the children will be making cakes as a group and visiting our local supermarket to buy ingredients. More details to follow for our Lidl trip.
This week, the children wrote a persuasive letter to Mrs Nicholls asking for £1 each towards decorations and designed a cake too.
Next week, we are going to be writing a list of ingredients to make sure we know what to buy when we visit the shop. Year 1 will also be writing a set of instructions so the cakes that children make will taste delicious.
Maths
This week, we have started to learn about money and the value of different coins and notes. The children worked very hard to recognise the different denominations of money we use in the UK.
Next week the children will be learning to count to and across 100 forwards and backwards.
ICT
This term, the children will be completing their unit on digital painting. The children have previously used the paintz.app in their sessions and are more familiar with the different icons needed to create their own digital pictures. The children spent time creating their own self-portraits.
Nyasa: “I finished my picture of me.”
OPAL Stay & Learn
Thank you to all of our parents and carers who were able to visit us for our OPAL stay and learn. The children had a wonderful time sharing their outdoor learning with you all.
Any donations towards our outdoor learning are greatly appreciated.

Walnut Class Forest School
We had lots of fun with mud this morning in Walnut class. Mud painting, potion and medicine creations, finding snails, making a mud hammer and enjoying the hanging cave. We finished off the morning with mastering nature cakes of various shapes and sizes. Some focused on the mixture and others on the decoration. Great job Walnut Class!
