Year 2 - Week Four Learning
We have been very busy in Year 2 this week, here are some of the highlights of our week!
Literacy
This week in literacy our grammar focus was verbs and adverbs. We looked closely at the features of instructions and followed the steps to make our own jam sandwich. The children then wrote their own set of instructions of ‘how to make a jam sandwich’.
Maths
This week in Maths the children have been comparing and ordering numbers using the inequality signs.
Science & Geography
In science, we have continued to look at materials and their properties. This week, we tested the hypothesis 'Hard materials cannot absorb water'. The children put this to the test by closely observing a brick, plastic cup and piece of wood to see if they were absorbent. In Geography, we have continued looking at the countries that make up the United Kingdom. the children focused on capital cities this week and made a travel guide about one of the capital cities in the UK. We looked at their flags and important places with the capitals.
