Year 1: What We Are Learning
“I saw someone put litter on the floor, that is not good!” said Mamadou.
In maths the children revisited patterns in their environment. The children were able to create, continue and correct patterns including ABAB, ABCABC, ABBC and more! The children even extended this to begin giving their pattern a lettered code, one of the earliest forms of algebra, where a letter stands for something else. Wow!
This week, we became eco-warriors! Following in the footsteps of Greta Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough, we headed outside for a very important litter pick. We have been reading ‘10 Things I Can Do To Help My World’, and today we put those words into action by tidying our school environment. We searched high and low for different materials that did not belong on the ground to keep our local wildlife safe. We learned that just like Greta Thunberg, even children can make a huge difference in protecting the Earth!
Well done Year 1 for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!
