Year 2 learning blog

This term, we have been diving into the classic tale Jack and the Beanstalk, and it has been wonderful to see the children grow in confidence as they learned to retell the story in their own words. 🌱

Now that they have mastered recounting the beginning, middle, and end, we are taking our learning one step further by creating alternative endings. The children have loved using their imaginations to think about what else could have happened to Jack after he climbed the beanstalk!

Alongside this, we are developing new writing skills. A key focus has been learning how to use exclamation marks to show excitement, surprise, and strong feelings in our writing. The children have been practising adding these to their sentences to make their stories more expressive and fun to read!

We are so proud of the creativity and enthusiasm the children are showing, and we can’t wait to share some of their fantastic alternative endings with you soon!
