Year 1: What We Are Learning

Year 1: What We Are Learning

Year 1 have been working really hard this week.

In Literacy this week the children have been thinking of questions they would like to know about Year 2. They wrote their questions and remembered to use question marks.

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc his week. Please continue to read with your children and work on their Spellings with them. Please remember to sign your child's Reading Record Book.

In Maths this week the children have been learning all about time. They had races and timed them and also made their very own clocks and were able to make different times using them.

In Geography this week the children learnt about extreme weather. They made posters on how to stay cool during a heatwave.

In Science the children learnt about materials. They were able to match and stick the object to the correct material that it was made from.

In PSHE the children sorted images into two categories being what babies need and what babies don't need. In Beech class it sparked a great discussion around whether babies NEED books. Whilst some children argued the point that it is an important part of language development others raised the point that babies would survive without books- great debating!

This week the children took part in their Sports Day and all did amazingly well!

Well done Year 1 for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!
