Year One Home Learning- Week 2

 Hello everyone!

Well done for getting through a whole week of home learning, only 3 more days to go! We have been really impressed with everyone's effort and all the examples that have been shared. As always, if you need anything you can contact us through email at:

 You can chose to follow it, or dip in and out as it suits you. Each day there will be a Maths, Literacy, PE, Topic and wellness session.

This week we are looking at rhyming words - two or more words that have the same or similar ending sound. To support this, there are some links on the timetable to different clips, including 'Oi Frog'.

 

Please use the sound mat below to support your child with sounding out and spellings:

Here are your spellings for this week:

The spelling test will take place in class on Friday.

Please continue to practise the 2, 5 and 10 times tables daily an work on number bond to 10, moving on to number bonds to 20.

Remember to check out Mathletics and Rockstar maths. You will find your child's personal log in detals in the password sheet that was emialed to you on Monday.

Try for a total of 10
Play this math card game alone or as a team. Lay out 20 cards on the table (leave out face cards or change them to equal 0, while aces equal 1). Remove sets of cards that add up to 10, ultimately trying to remove all the cards from the table. It’s harder than you think!

Well done on your senses experiments last week. We loved seeing the photos! This week we are asking you to focus on touch.

Explorify is a great website that is free to sign up to. There are lots of interesting activities and videos available. Sign up here: explorify.wellcome.ac.uk. 

It is really important that you start your day with a phonics session. Follow the links below for your video of the day! 

Year One Daily phonic lessons

We cannot stress enough how important reading with your child each day is. We understand that with home learning, trying to fit everything in will be a challenging task in itself. Please can we ask that you prioritise reading every day, even if its just for 10 minutes. You can use Oxford Owl Ebooks for this. The link will be emailed in your password document. 

Hilldene Library are also offering a click and collect service if you need any reading books. 

We are counting down the days until Thursday, when we will be back together for face-to-face teaching.
